Christmas Tree Hunt
As we’re all sittin around my house on Friday afternoon, everyone is brainstorming on what we can all go do. I throw out the idea that we can always head up to the mountains and hunt for our Christmas trees. I’ve never really gone out and got one from the woods, but I’ve never had my own place on Christmas before.
So everybody likes the idea, because my hunting partner informed me that there was plenty of snow up there for the kids to play in. So with Jared and Anna in his blazer, and Heath and I in my pickup, and everyone else in Jarrid’s Expedition, we began our wagon train to the mountains.
As we gained in elevation, snow started appearing on the mountain sides, as well as on the road. Since the area back there is mostly dominated by hunters, the snow on the road was pretty well packed to ice. My truck handles pretty good on ice, as well as my brothers rig, but from what I was told Jarrid’s Expedition was doin a bit of slippin. Being there first time up in this type of “harsh conditions”, I guess they weren’t feeling comfortable. So by the time we got to where I was taking them, they all wanted to go home.
So they headed back down with Jared following them, and it ended up just being Heath and I. So Heath grabbed the rifle off the rack, and I put my trompin boots on, and we headed down the old snow covered road in search of our perfect Charlie Brown Christmas Tree, and a possible buck.

If you have high speed internet, you can see Heath explain his take on things. (Link to 10Mb video)

Chad, we can hear you whispering. Hehe. Looks cold. Dang. It doesn’t EVER look like that here. As much as I wish it did. We’d have some kick-butt ski slopes if it ever snowed. Go figure.

Neat stuff, we always go out and get our tree from some Christmass trees we planted on top of the hill when I was in grade school, it’s loads of fun…but I missed it this year cause I am away at school.

Well, I’m sorry if you felt uncomfortable about driving the mountain roads. I assumed that we all knew what we were in for. Next time we’ll be sure to have chains for you.
