So Dad, Jared and I are out installing a jacuzzi for a customer, while my mom is watching the shop the other day. This guy, his wife and daughter come in to look at cue sticks. But they just aren’t real happy with the selection we currently have. So my mom is showing them the catelog, when one cue catches his eye.
The Dufferin Destiny cue. The Dufferin line is pretty famous, and they’re made up in Canada. The company started strong some time ago, but when the old man died and passed it off to the kids… well, a family fued happened. All of them greedy bastards, beatin’ eachother up, over who gets what, and how much, etc.
Thus a great line of cuesticks ends.
So when this customer points out that he really likes that Destiny cue, my mom recalls that I’d been keeping a cue in a case in my office. So she decides to go grab it, and show the guy. Of course, he loves it to death. Just like most people that see it. And now he wants it.
Only problem is, this bad boy just ain’t for sale. It just became a collectors item, and you can’t get them anymore. So this cue that woulda cose him $200, would now cost him $2,000. At least, thats the price I would have given it up for.
So when mom calls me (completely oblivious to the fact that we can’t get them anymore) she’s talkin about selling it to him. Thats when I freak. I was already having beef with the wiring on the jacuzzi I was doing, and my old man was naturally on my nerves… so I overreacted a bit. I hollered at her to leave things alone in my office and whatnot, then hung up.
Now she had to go back out and tell the guy, that we can’t get them, and that the cue he really loves, ain’t for sale. Thats tuff.
But I guess this guy is on a quest to search the internet for em. So maybe he’ll get his. All I know is that I’ve got mine. ![]()
Just launched the new design of Frontier Web Design!
Be sure to check it out, and tell me if you find any broken links or bugs. I’m pretty happy with its look. I’d say it’s my best piece yet.
JJ Honeycutt just posted about why he’s glad he doesn’t get pregnant. It was a pretty good laugh.
As most you already know, my old friend Michael Wahl passed away a couple days ago. I posted about it on my site. I’m flyin down on tuesday, and Carrie and I will drive up to SLO on wednesday or thursday, depending on what day the funeral is. Erik’s grandma offered to let us crash at her home in Paso Robles. So it should be a nice trip.
Update ยป
We’re putting together a tribute website for him.
Well… everytime we go out lookin, we always seem to fall back to the soggy bottom ranch.
We have pretty much decided that this is what we really want to do. So we’re looking to sell both our houses, to aquire this great peice of propery. We are all really excited about it, and we have tons of ideas hitting us left and right for it.
We want to dig out a pond (of course we’re gonna look into getting a ranch backo tractor) right where the creek runs through, then we’d use the fill dirt, to raise the road where the driveway in would be…
Remember that these are winter photos. So usually, everything would be snowy white! But spring and autumn are gorgeous here. Especially when all the Aspen turn firey gold like in this photo.

Well, me and mom are goin out to look at more properties tomarrow…. er… i guess today… dang. It’s late. Halo Ethics is hittin it pretty big, as the involvement from fellow gamers increases. Got our first tournament tonite! w00t!
We’re workin on a billiard championship over in Post Falls. I just made this logo for the guy running it, and I’m puttin up a wee little website for it here. It’s still in the works as I type this, but keep checkin back. I’ll church it up some.
Well, things have been pretty tight here at the shop. Lucky for us, a feller came in yesterday, and bought a pool table on impulse. He bought the huntington, only cos we promise we’d have it set up for his superbowl party.
We get there, and there are about 5 of his friends over. But as time passes and I’m setting up the table, at least half the town came thru to see the table. haha. I love these small towns. It was just north of Spirit Lake, a place called Blanchard. But they were sayin, this nice table coming in was the biggest thing happening in town!
I mean, I don’t mind if people watch while I set up a table… but this was getting rediculous. I was having to constantly ask people out of my way so I could work. So I think I pretty much met most the town that day. It was fun, they were pretty good customers.
This older feller named Warren, who is on the local Friends of NRA committee with me, put up his 100 year old Brunswick billiard table on consignment in our shop. So we got to put it together yesterday. It was fun seeing how they built em way back then. Warren wants a couple grand for it, and we’re tryin to sell it for 5 or so. I was thinkin about putting it on ebay, but I’m not sure. Either way, we have an awesome 9 foot table to play on here at the shop now.
Been playing some Halo with Jared more often. Me and some of my buddies in my clan (The Dirty Dogs) thought up the idea to start this halo ethics website and forum. We’re sick of all the glitch cheating that is going on, and we’re making an effort to find all the decent, ethical folks. The site is still in the works as I write this, but hopefully it’ll collect involvement and grow.
That’s all I got for now.
Yea, so Heath thinks he’s pretty smart. But I know the truth. He just managed to pull the wool over the eyes of the Provost Sergeant. Doesn’t mean a thing. I’m sure it happens all the time. ![]()
Marshal Dillon is growing mighty huge. I don’t get to play with him as much as I used to. But I bring em down to the shop every now and then to let em run around the yard.

The back half of the property is all open and fenced. These folks used to run cattle back there. It would be great for dropping a couple granny flats out there.

Dad and I went down to Paddy’s bar and grill and played in the local pool tournament last night. It’s seven bucks to get in, and it’s a double elimination. So it was a good time. Dad didn’t get far, and I won the first round (2 outta 3), lost the second to a feller from Montana, next round I got to play dad, and beat him on that, then the last one is the kicker.
This guy played the whole first game, using only one hand, while talkin on the phone with the other hand. He lost, that first game, so he hung up and whooped me the last two. But it was just insulting. I mean, he was good and all… but to pull that… Everybody watching was talking smack about him. And it just kinda irritated me some, which didn’t improve my game any.
But overall it was a good time, and so we’re gonna go more often. I’m thinkin of starting up a billiard blog, for all the locals. Where I can post tips, tricks, local tourny’s, and news of interest.
I’ve been playing with this awesome cue stick we got a while ago. All wood. Looks beautiful. But you can’t get em anymore, cos the family that owned the business had some kinda fued, and everything got shut down. So it’s gotta be worth alot more now. And it’s worth about 300 greenbacks as it is. I’ll put a picture of it up shortly.
